| Jillian Claire- 12 days old (left) and Jordyn Rae- 2 days old (right) |
My experiences with Jordyn and Jillian were different from the very beginning. When Jordyn was born she was taken from us almost immediately and sent to the NICU. When Jillian was born she was placed in my arms and hasn't left my side since. John and I are still talking about how different those first few hours were.
With Jordyn we got to sleep. With Jillian we were "forced" to be parents instantly.
While my two daughters may look alike I have noticed more and more with each passing day just how different they already are.
Their biggest difference thus far: sleeping patterns.
I have often described Jordyn as "The World's Worst Sleeper". She didn't sleep through the night until she was 15 months old, naps usually last about an hour, our days start at about 6 am- get my point?
So far Jillian is VERY different. She loves to nap- probably a little too much. And during the night (aside from a few exceptions) she eats and goes back down relatively quick and without fuss.
Jordyn gets her sleep habits from me. I got my sleep habits from my mom. We aren't the best sleepers but thankfully we do well on little sleep.
Jillian is so far like her Daddy- which I am VERY happy about. John can fall asleep at night in about five minutes and can take naps without hesitation.
I have told many people that if John and I could survive Jordyn and the awful sleeper that she was (is) we can survive any baby. I am so happy that so far we have been given a sleeping baby. As I type this, Jillian is sound asleep on my chest. I know, I know- she should be in a cradle and not napping on me but I like the time with her. Jordyn was never a cuddler (another HUGE difference) and we don't allow the girls to sleep in our bed. So nap time is a time for cuddling. Not all day, but at this moment: Yes!
I can't wait to discover the differences and similarities between my two girls. They will each be their own person, their own self. Yet at the same time hopefully have a bond that goes beyond their cute little noses and round cheeks.
